With the Liverpool Soul Weekender and Bridlington Spa Northern Soul Weekender both kicking off this Friday, it seems fitting that we bring you our guide to Mod, Ska and Soul events for summer 2018. These all-nighters and weekenders are dotted up and down the country, so pick a few out and keep yourself busy throughout the summer months.
Running from Friday 22nd - Sunday 24th June, the Liverpool Soul Weekender has three day parties and two all-nighters with an extensive lineup of international DJs. There's no need to worry about getting from venue to venue, as apart from the Friday all-nighter at 24 Kitchen Street, all the acts are under one roof at the Buyers Club.
Be sure to get your best dancing shoes on for the Bridlington Spa Northern Soul Weekender, as floors and bars fill six event rooms for you to jive between. With a range of DJs across Northern Soul, Modern Soul, Rare & Underplayed, RnB and Soul Club Room, there's some quality music to be heard.
Situated in The Castle Park - Durham, and running across the 29th - 30th June, this two-day camping event has something for everyone. It's a family-friendly weekend, with scooter rideouts and awards; an open-air swimming pool; stalls, and some great live music from cover bands and tribute acts.
Based up in Butlins Skegness Resort, this end-of-summer treat runs from 21st - 24th September. With your ticket you'll get access to the Butlins facilities, whilst also having the chance to meet some class Wigan Casino DJs, learn some moves in the Soul dance workshops, and have a boogie to another great lineup of artists.
This weekend event is again perfect for all ages and runs from 24th - 26th August. Free afternoon events will run on Brighton Pier, with plenty of food and drink served on the terrace. Across the weekend the bill is full of lots of live music, a selection of DJ sessions, market stalls and a scooter ride-out and competition.
This annual event at Whitby Pavilion will run from July 6th - July 8th. The lineup is packed full of great Northern Soul, Motown and Modern Soul DJs, and is spread across both daytime sessions and night events. Again held in one venue and spread across two rooms, it's perfect for those who want to dance into the night.
If a full weekender isn't for you, head down to Southend-On-Sea on Saturday 21st July for a day packed full of great 2-Tone bands. Grab some food and drink, and if you've got children, there's plenty of space for them to keep busy in the activity areas.
To finish off your summer, head to Wigan for a huge soul all nighter on September 25th. The event is set to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Wigan Casino, with a number of original Casino DJs on the bill. Dance on the sprung floors for nostalgia, or get involved for the first time and enjoy a non-stop party through the night.
